0Inaugural Twin Cities Burger Battle Set for May 17th
Hey Twin Cities let’s get ready to rumble as the inaugural Twin Cities Burger Battle takes place on May 17, 2014 at Mears Park in downtown St. Paul. I’m feeling pretty giddy about this event as I’ve jealously watched other cities enjoy burger battles. Now Twin Cities restaurants get to compete head-to-head in their quest to claim Best Burger in the Twin Cities.
Local St. Paulite and event management professional, Jim Buron, brings this charity event to the Twin Cities. Jim’s experience in large gala events including the New York City Wine and Food Festival will surely promise a well-managed and enjoyable time for burger lovers. I had the opportunity to speak to Jim Buron about the Burger Battle earlier this week. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect.
There are 12 restaurants competing for best burger in the Twin Cities.
- 5-8 Club
- B-52 Burgers and Crew
- Bulldog Lowertown
- Gold Nugget
- Groveled Tap
- Lulu’s Market and Deli
- My Burger
- Red Cow
- St. Paul Grill
- The Nook
- Town Hall Tap
- Victory 44
Tickets and Information:
- The event runs from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
- Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased online at the Twin Cities Burger Battle website.
- Complementary beer provided by Summit Brewing.
- Live music (bands not yet announced).
To claim the title of Twin Cities Burger Battle Champion, burgers will be judged by a team of chefs and culinary professionals. Burgers will be judged on taste, juiciness, creativity and originality. A second award will be given to the burger that wins The People’s Choice Award. All attendees will be given a token to vote for their preferred burger.
Each restaurant will prepare one version of a burger slider along with a small ‘side’ for approximately 1,500 attendees. The burger created by each participating restaurant can be any burger of their choosing be it a new creation or an existing burger from their menu.
Come hungry and come thirsty as this event promises to deliver a fun-filled day for burger lovers and is another indication that the Twin Cities is a culinary powerhouse for some of the best burgers in the country.
