04th Annual Twin Cities Burger Battle is Set for May 20, 2017
Let’s get ready to rumble Twin Cities as tickets for the 4th Annual Twin Cities Burger Battle go on sale April 12th.
The burger battle will take place once again at Harriet Island in St. Paul. Previously the Battle alternated between Minneapolis and St Paul locations but last year’s setting was such a hit with competitors and guests that it will repeat at the St. Paul venue.
“With Harriet Island’s sprawling space, we are able to lay out our event footprint to make it most efficient to our restaurants, sponsors and guests.” explains Burger Battle Founder, Jim Buron. “Located on the banks of the Mississippi with the St. Paul skyline as its backdrop, we are happy to call Harriet Island home for the second consecutive year.”
Last year’s event saw two Minneapolis-based restaurants walk away with first place titles – literally evening the score with its St. Paul neighbors who dominated the first two burger battles.
Similar to last year, 25 restaurants will engage in the epic clash of meat and bun to claim the coveted title of Best Burger in the Twin Cities.
Some of last year’s winners are competing including Pepper’s and Fries (People’s Choice). Other competitors include last year’s runner ups Citizen Supper Club (Judge’s Pick), and Rock Elm Tavern (People’s Choice). Unfortunately Red Cow (2016 Judge’s Pick) and Paddy Shack (2105 Judge’s Pick, 2016 runner up) are unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
As of this date, here are the 2017 competing restaurants:
- 7th Street Social
- B-52 Burgers and Crew (2014 Judge’s Pick)

- Buster’s on 28th

To claim the title of Twin Cities Burger Battle Champion, burgers will be judged by a team of chefs, culinary professionals, and local celebrities. Burgers will be judged on presentation, taste, juiciness, creativity and originality. A second award will be given to the burger that wins The People’s Choice Award. All attendees will be given a token to vote for their winning burger.
The format is simple. Each restaurant will prepare one version of a burger ‘slider’ along with an optional small ‘side’ for approximately 2,500 attendees. Beware that these ‘slider-size’ burgers are still 2-4 ounces of beef joy so pace yourself accordingly. Or as Joey Tribbiani would say, “Wear your fat pants!”
The battle is an all-inclusive event where guests can eat and drink as much as they want. Additional activities and raffles will be provided by this year’s sponsors including KDWB, KFAN, Fulton Beer, Summit Brewing, the Minnesota Beef Council along with Ranchers Legacy Meats as the exclusive beef sponsor.
Proceeds from the event will go to raise funds for the Sanneh Foundation. The Twin Cities Burger Battle has raised over $30,000 for the Foundation.
Be sure to get your tickets quickly as last year’s sold out two weeks prior to the event. Checkout our posts on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Burger Battles to see previous winners and learn more about this popular culinary event.
